With approximately 1.5Lakh Road accident related deaths annually, the Government with consultations with State Transport Ministers had brought an Amendment to the Archaic Motor Vehicles Act from 1988. The Amendment was tabled in 2016 and in 2017 it was passed by the lower house. In the on-going Monsoon session the bill has been tabled in the upper house and is getting unfair opposition.
